Murrumbidgee Seniors Week Grants

Some of Murrumbidgee Electorate’s Seniors will celebrate Seniors Week with the help of funding from the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care, The Nationals Member for Murrumbidgee, Adrian Piccoli, said today.

NSW Seniors Week will be held from Sunday March 21 to Sunday March 28 this year.

“The theme, LIVE LIFE, aims to encourage seniors to active participate at one of the 700 events taking place across NSW during Seniors Week each year.

“It is an opportunity to celebrate the valuable contribution seniors make to our community,” he said.

“It is also a way of acknowledging seniors and provides a great opportunity for all the generations to join with older people to celebrate.

The recipients of grants this year are:

Coolamon Senior Citizens Club (bus title)                     $400.00

Griffith City Council (Julie Anthony in concert)            $600.00

Junee Shire Council (Junee Seniors Live Life)            $750.00

Lachlan Shire Council (Outback & Beyond tour)            $600.00         

Leeton Shire Council (Celebrating Seniors)                      $600.00

Lower Lachlan Community Service Inc.

Getting Started in Family History                         $400.00

Temora Shire Council – Seniors Week             $870.00

Mr Piccoli said the funding would contribute to ensuring the success of celebrations that rely on the involvement of local communities.

“I look forward to being able to a part of the Seniors Week celebrations,” Mr Piccoli concluded.
